Houston Camerata led by conductor Paulo Gomes will present an elegant and uplifting afternoon concert for those whose lives have been changed by cancer, featuring John Rutter’s The Gift of Life, offered in signature Houston Camerata style – Music from the Heart and Soul.
The work is a six-movement choral celebration of the living earth and its creation. This chamber version will include organ, piano, harp, and percussion. Setting a variety of sacred texts including new words by the composer, the work contains the mystical Hymn to the Creator of Light for double choir as its central canticle. The Gift of Life’s sixth movement “Believe in Life” reflects different facets of the miracle of creation, which echoes the miracle of being cancer free. In this Music Heals concert, we offer a truly inspiring event for the public and cancer survivors, care givers, and researchers to hear their witness of faith and strength.
