Houston Ballet presents its seventh annual Jubilee of Dance, a special one-night only performance showcasing the talent and artistry of the company dancers in a program of high-energy excerpts from signature works and classics. At the Jubilee of Dance, the company will unveil the world premiere of Houston Ballet artistic director Stanton Welch’s Rossini. Set to Gioachino Rossini’s 1812 comic opera La Scala di Seta overture, the six-minute piece is choreographed for 18 ballerinas adorned in all white. Welch’s hyper-kinetic tutu ballet, Velocity (2003), is expanded to include the entire company. Set to sharp and angular music by American composer Michael Torke, the piece showcases the ballet's classical techniques.
