They've performed on stages in Australia, Guatemala, Hungary and Mexico, and have been honored at the Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland. In fact, these young dancers are so exceptionally skilled, it's hard to believe they're students. Yet they train at Houston Ballet's Ben Stevenson Academy.
The program showcases their versatility and unique talents. For the first time, these young dancers will perform George Balanchine's romantic 1934 masterwork, Serenade, set to Peter Illyich Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings in C, Op. 48. David Lichine's Graduation Ball is a comic, high spirited depiction of the adventures of a group of cadets who come to court the young women at a ball at a fashionable finishing school in Vienna in the 1840s.
The program closes with Stanton Welch's classical showpiece Studies, set to music by Carl Czerny and showcasing students from all levels of the academy.
