Area fans get the chance to see a first-place Texas baseball team. An exciting, Texas major league team. OK, it's the dreaded Texas Rangers, but this interleague series is one of the few marquee series left at Minute Maid Park this season.

Houston Astros ace Roy Owsalt could be traded as soon as this weekend (with the Rangers themselves emerging as the leading contender), but Oswalt figures to have plenty of company in looking over at the other team in envy. The Rangers boast a resurgent old slugger in Vladmir Guerrero (.336 batting average and 54 RBI in 60 games), a suddenly healthy, still-hard-living-recovered young masher in Josh Hamilton (15 home runs), one of the most exciting young shortstops in the game in Elvis Andrus and one of the more surprising pitching staffs in the league.

There figures be a lot of exciting baseball played over the weekend at Minute Maid — and the Astros will get to at least watch it.
