Hooks-Epstein Galleries presents "Mounted, but NOT Stuffed!," the inaugural stateside exhibition of papier-mâché sculptures for UK-based artist David Farrer.
Farrer specializes in creating bespoke papier-mâché sculptures of animal “trophy heads.” The concept of these sculptures was originally inspired by his travels to South Africa, beginning in 1995. Farrer sought to encompass the ecological and environmental impacts of trophy hunting, and he has been creating collaged animal heads ever since.
The recycled materials used to create the sculptures also reflect Farrer’s interest in “green” matters and sustainability. The creatures depicted by Farrer have since diversified into European and North American species.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until June 15.
