For more than 20 years, Hobby Airport has welcomed the community to its annual neighborhood celebration — Hobby Fest. The event (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) is free to the public with a donation of a non-perishable food item that will benefit the Hobby Area Rotary Club. Families are encouraged to attend to enjoy complimentary hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn and sodas, as well as free activities such as face painting, moonwalks, video game bus, interactive science exhibits, a live DJ and up-close encounters with vintage and modern aircraft.

Boy Scouts can procure merit badges at the event for aviation, crime prevention and fire safety as well.

Proceeds from sponsors of Hobby Fest help fund scholarships for local students in aviation-related fields.
