HISD Visual Art teachers will display their artistic talents in the inaugural Art Teachers’ Art Exhibit. The show will allow teachers the opportunity to remind the community they are still practicing artists. HISD Visual Art Faculty Exhibition affords patrons with an exclusive opportunity to view new directions in work by some of this district's most dynamic artists and educators.
The show is representative of the long-standing strengths of HISD’s instructors and their programs focusing on painting, sculpture, printmaking, and graphic design, mixed media, photography, and collage as well as the burgeoning emphasis on interdisciplinary research, video, and digital media. Art teachers from all over the district applied to participate and were selected by a jury of peers based upon quality of artistic prowess and instructional testimonial submissions.
Participants will be challenged with having to create creating new, never seen before works for this exhibition. Artists featured in the premiere, have proven that Fine Arts education is vital to the education of the whole child. Participating teachers have long desired to include their working knowledge of Visual Art to the application of instruction to their students. Art Education is a service provided to some students of HISD and this show will highlight the passion and dedication of the districts Art teachers, promoting the acquisition of a quality Visual Arts Program for every campus in the district.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until March 31.
