DocFest is the annual fund-raising HSPVA-related concert, Hall of Fame induction and jam session conceived by Chris Walker (‘PVA ’86) and Tamar Davis (’98). The event is in honor of the entire spectrum of Bob Morgan's 23-year HSPVA career; that is, in honor of all the terrific faculty, students, staff and parents with whom Bob has collaborated during his tenure at the The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.

The concert will feature the following artists:

  • Tamar Davis, MC
  • Joel Fulgham Quartet (Dennis Dotson, trpt.; José-Miguel Yamal [‘95], piano; Brennen Nase, bass)
  • Jason Moran, solo piano
  • Jason Moran/Chris Walker/Denardo Coleman Trio (drummer Denardo, from New York, is Ornette’s son)

During the concert, the following people will be inducted into the HSPVA Jazz Hall of Fame:

  • Joel Fulgham (’76)
  • Jason Moran (’93)
  • Posthumously:
  • Edward Trongone (1919-1987), Founding Director of the HSPVA Jazz Program (1971-1976)
  • Sebastian Whittaker (‘85) (1966-2016)

There will also be a post-concert jam session (Founders Club/Hobby Center): typically features alumni, but everyone is welcome.
