Vocalist Henrietta Robinson is a Houston native. Her early musical training included an introduction to both sacred and secular music. She honed her jazz skills while living on the East Coast where she served as a radio host of WGBH’s Friday night edition of the Jazz Gallery in Boston, Massachusetts. Her deep contralto voice and scat singing abilities evoke the legacy of Lady Day, Sarah Vaughan, Lester Young, Charlie Parker, and John Coltrane.
Robinson will demonstrate her creative interpretations of jazz standards, sacred music, and storytelling. The trio of accompanying musicians will include Brooke Wyatt on piano, A.J. Moyler on bass, and Jerré Jackson on drums.
