HCC Chamber Music Series will hold a special program that features song cycles inspired by the words of the great American poet Walt Whitman. In addition to works by Ned Rorem, Ralph Vaughn Williams, and Ruth Schonthal, the heart of the program will be the world premiere of Houston composer Joe LoCascio's new song cycle, Six Songs on the Poems of Walt Whitman.
Sherry Cheng will be joining Soprano Alison Greene at the piano to bring the spirit of Walt Whitman, the spirit of his America, and the voice that belongs to everyone, singing "for every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you."
The February 17 performance will be at HCC Southwest Performing Arts Center in Stafford, while the February 19 performance will be at Performing Arts Center Theater 1 on the HCC Spring Branch Campus.
