Lynn Whitfield and Robin Givens, both accomplished, veteran actresses of stage and screen, have been selected as the new keynote speakers for the Houston Community College Black History Scholarship Gala. Whitfield and Givens are taking the place of the initial scholarship gala keynote speaker Phylicia Rashad, who had a scheduling conflict and could not attend the gala.

The pair will speak on the theme The Empowerment of the Black Woman.Their personal accomplishments and desire to promote education and scholarship of African-American students makes them ideal to speak at this long-running Houston fundraising event.

Now in its 13th year, the HCC Black History Scholarship Gala raises scholarship funds for students attending Houston Community College.
