Originally from Józefów, Poland, Filip Błachnio is an active performer and sought-after pedagogue based in Houston. He has performed throughout the United States and internationally. Błachnio is a doctoral student in piano performance at Rice University, where he studies with Robert Roux. He is currently doing research on the late piano sonatas of Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin. He is a faculty member of the Michael P. Hammond Preparatory Program at Rice University and the International Music Academy in Houston, as well as instructor of class piano at Rice University.
Błachnio will perform works for solo piano by Beethoven, Mendelsohn, Chopin, Scriabin and Paderewski.
