Although Christian Renonciat's sculptures are informed by everyday objects, they are mysterious and puzzling in their content and meaning. He chooses not only to merely create objects of trompe l'oeil, but also to interject a hidden meaning to the rationale of nature.
Renonciat was born in Paris and received a degree in philosophy from the Sorbonne in 1969. Upon completion, he decided to pursue a more concrete vocation and went to work for a studio in Antebes, where he apprenticed with experts in the field of furniture restoration for the royal family. After working in this studio for six years, he opened his own studio in Valbonne, where he made his first sculptures. The following year, he held his first show at the Gallerie Alain Blondel. Since, he has exhibited extensively throughout Europe. In 2006, he had his first exhibition at Gremillion & Co. Fine Art.
