Explore Houston’s traditional retail, business and entertainment hub during Greater Houston Preservation Alliance’s walking tour of Main Street’s 20th century architecture. From the neoclassical Union National Bank Building (1912) to the Art Deco home of Sakowitz Bros. Department Store (1929) and the starkly modern First City National Bank Building (1960), to walk down Main Street is to view a timeline of Houston’s commercial development and changing architectural tastes.
This is an exterior architecture tour only. The 90-minute guided walking tour begins at 6 p.m. Parking is free on downtown streets on Sunday. There are no public restrooms along the tour route.
