Great Ramen Challenge 2013, presented by IKEA Houston

eventdetail

Seven influential local chefs will gather at IKEA Houston to prove ramen isn't just for the money-deprived and time-crunched. Sticking to a student budget, Michael Castillo from Uchi, Lyle Bento from Underbelly, Jordan Economy from Bar Boheme, Jean-Philippe Gaston from Cove, Patrick Hart and Demetrius Smith from Eatsie Boys, Cyrus Caclini and Masahide Wakatsuki from Kata Robata and Andrew Sanchez from Moontower Inn will go skillet-to-skillet to create the best bowl of ramen using no more than $3 worth of ingredients.

Chefs are limited to working with one giant pot, one skillet, one set of knives, one cutting board, two wooden spoons, two hot plates and a strainer. The ingredients must be accessible at any grocery store.

The winner will take home bragging rights and the Golden Ramen Trophy. IKEA will also make a $6,000 to the Houston Food Bank. RSVP here.
