The first show of 2011 on the Hubbard Stage, God of Carnage took Broadway by storm and was awarded the Tony for Best Play. The New York Times called the play “First class! A four-way prize fight. Catnip for audiences" and the New York Post described it as “Gleefully nasty fun.” The story of two courteous and civilized couples who meet after their boys’ fist-fight in a neighborhood schoolyard, grown-ups behave badly as these parents argue about who influenced their sons’ misbehavior. Carnage erupts and then they break out the liquor. Four actors and a director make their Alley Theatre debut.
