Genocide Awareness Month Film Series

eventdetail

The Holocaust Museum Houston will host three films to educate and commemorate events of genocide as part of Genocide Awareness Month.

April 17: The Last Survivor
A character-based, feature-length documentary film, The Last Survivor presents the stories of genocide survivors and their struggles to make sense of tragedy by working to educate, motivate and promulgate a civic response to mass atrocity crimes.

April 21: Sometimes in April
When the Hutu nationalists raised arms against their Tutsi countrymen in the African nation of Rwanda in April of 1994, the violent uprising marked the beginning of one of the darkest events of genocide. This film tells the tale of two brothers whose differing loyalties found them on opposing sides of the conflict.

April 27: Darfur Diaries
Through the voices of refugees, displaced persons and, in particular, women and children, this film seeks to provide space for the marginalized victims of atrocities to speak to and engage with the world.
