The Nancy Thomas Horticulture Lecture was established in 1995 and is held biennially in February. This year, it will feature Michael Van Valkenburgh as its lecturer on horticulture. Van Valkenburgh is the founder of Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, with offices in Brooklyn, New York and Cambridge, Massachusetts. The firm works at all scales, from the re-imagination of Waller Creek in Austin into a linear city park with ecological function, to small gardens at places like the Menil Collection in Houston and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston.
