During the 1920s and early 1930s, Galveston was host to the Pageant of Pulchritude (predecessor to the Miss Universe Pageant), which has now been resurrected by Islander By Choice as a two-day family-friendly event dubbed the Galveston Island Beach Revue.
The seventh annual event features a Friday night concert and official introduction of the 2015 Bathing Beauties.
On Saturday, guests can expect more live music, vendor and craft beer booths, a charcoal championship cookoff and Bathing Beauties Contest when 40 contestants compete in vintage and vintage-inspired swimwear for cash prizes.
