Galveston Arts Center presents two new exhibitions with a reception in conjunction with Galveston ArtWalk.
In the second-floor 1878 Gallery, "Esferas Perdidas" (or "Lost Spheres") is a project conceived by San Antonio glass artists Sean Johnston and Justin Parr engaging the community in an ongoing scavenger hunt for glass marbles. The exhibition features a selection of handmade glass marbles from group participant collections, along with highlights of the work of participating artists. The group will bring their ongoing interactive marble hunt to the island with local hides taking place during the course of the exhibition.
In the Brown Foundation Gallery, Rebecca Drolen’s exhibition, "Unstable Entity," uses photographs and architectural constructions to explore balancing and tipping points within culturally unstable expectations of female strength, resilience, and bodily performance.
Following the opening reception, these exhibits will remain on view through February 13, 2022.
