Gallery Sonja Roesch will hold a special exhibition of paintings by the late German artist Raimund Girke. Girke was an influential painter at the forefront of the Analytical Painting movement, known for his investigations of the color white.
The paintings featured in this exhibition demonstrate the fruitful results of Girke’s lifelong passion for analyzing color layering, color movement, and structure. Falling shortly before what would have been his 90th birthday, this show is meant to celebrate Girke’s tremendous contributions to the field of painting during his lifetime. The disciplined serenity and material of the paint is evident in Girke’s works, as white flows in and out of his paintings, present but never determined.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until October 26.
