“Portraits of My Mother" (2020-2023) is an intimately personal photo series that has been a collaboration between Cressandra Thibodeaux's mother and me, blurring the lines between reality and fiction. Against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, she took these portraits during a time of great uncertainty to confront her mother's own mortality and to explore themes such as ageism, notions of beauty, and the flawed medical system. Through photography, she was able to stop time and immortalize her beloved mother.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until May 28.
