Besides the collection of creative full-size scarecrows, families will enjoy live music, an all-new carnival, food trucks, apple bobbing, face painting, pumpkin decorating and more (all-day carnival tickets are $5 per person). Students from Huggins Elementary, Randolph Elementary and Simonton Christian Academy schools will provide music and entertainment.
The highlight of the festival are the rows of living scarecrows created by local teams, each of which is judged for creativity and originality by those in attendance, with the top-three vote recipients earning cash prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250, respectively. This year's theme for the scarecrow contest is rock 'n' roll.
Proceeds from the sale of scarecrow judging ballots, food and other items at the festival benefit the Fulshear Arts Council.
