Friends of the Texas Room kicks off its 2014 program series with "A Brief History of Asian American Immigration to Houston: The Houston Asian American Archive at Rice University," a presentation by Anne Chao, co-principal Investigator at the Houston Asian American Archive.

The Houston Asian American Archive is a collaborative research project engaging members of the Rice University faculty, staff, students as well as those of the Houston community. The multi-year project involves collaboration with community members, curriculum development in Asian American studies, and the on-going collection of oral histories and material artifacts of Asian Americans for careful preservation and use by community members and research scholars alike.
