Friends of Oak Forest Park presents Festival of Abilities

The Festival of Abilities is an inclusive, activity-packed event benefiting a landmark Playground for All Abilities. Activities include adaptive sports and an obstacle course, SIRE therapeutic horses, petting zoo, pick-your-own pumpkin patch, trick or treating, art tile painting fundraiser, sports demos, performances, family photos, and an appearance by Houston Dynamo’s Diesel mascot.

Restaurant hosts include BB's Café, El Pollo Loco, Hartz Krispy Chicken on Pinemont, King's BierHaus, Peli Peli Kitchen, and The Union Kitchen. The King’s BierHaus Craft Biergarten will feature a Battle of the Texas Brews™ with the winner to be featured on tap at their new Heights location on TC Jester. Participants include Back Pew, Brash, Eureka Heights, Karbach, Lone Pint, Saint Arnold, Shiner, Southern Star and Spindle Tap.

At 4:30 pm, Cookie Joe’s Dance Company will perform a special “She’s Like the Wind” tribute to Patrick “Buddy” Swayze, company founder Cookie Joe’s longtime friend and dance classmate. Her dance company is a continuation of the vision her teacher and mentor Patsy Swayze. The Houston Jazz Ballet Company, owned by Patsy Swayze, was originally located at her former dance school just steps from Oak Forest Park. Performances also include Fly Dance Company, “the Gentlemen of Hip Hop,” and The River Performance Troupe.
