The Space Taking Artist Residency, powered by Fresh Arts, is a six-week opportunity for traditionally underrepresented local artists to experiment and “takeover” a public space in new and out-of-the box ways. As part of this residency, MythoFutuRddim, an arts and cultural festival, has been chosen for the Summer Residency.

"MythoFutuRiddim" features artists who explore mythology, Afrofuturism and riddim/music. Along with contemporary art, the festival will also include music performances, poetry readings, an interactive installation, kids events and more.

The festival will consist of an initial installation featuring six artists. Over the course of the exhibition, the center of the gallery will be activated in a rotating fashion in order to give equal focus to each individual artist/project. This unique format will allow the exhibition to become a distinct experience for each visitor.

The featured artists include:

  • Rico Edwards/Enigma Project - July 12-17
  • Quietstorm - July 19-24
  • Oluwah Akinyemi - July 26-31
  • Samiria Percival - Aug 2-7
  • Alexis Pye - Aug 9-14

Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until August 14.
