This is a chance for everyone to see the teams in Houston's Final Four, whether they have a ticket or not. All four teams will hold open practices starting at noon at Reliant Stadium. It's free to get in — and free to park.
The Friday tradition has evolved into something of a rollicking fan fest, where people who don't have a chance to get into the games (and relatively few Houstonians will actually attend any of the games) celebrate the Final Four. The teams keep these practices light and often put on shooting contests or dunking shows (the coaches don't always allow their stars to go dunk crazy the day before the biggest games of the season though). Fan contests are held as well — a few fans will win their way into actual game tickets.
The ultimate Cinderella VCU will take the floor first at noon and be followed by Kentucky, Butler and UConn over the next four hours.
More than 29,000 people showed up at the open practice Friday before the 2010 Final Four in Indianapolis.
