Florescence 2013: "Treasure"

eventdetail
Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

Florescence is one of the largest competitive national flower shows sanctioned by the Garden Club of America. This biennial event is presented by The Garden Club of Houston, River Oaks Garden Club, Bayou Preservation Association  and the MFAH.

Florescence showcases floral and horticulture arrangements by garden club experts, renowned floral designers and other noted personalities. Many of the flower arrangements are interpretations of masterpieces from the MFAH art collections. Other exhibits include arrangements from the Asia Society, Federated Garden Clubs, Texas State Floral Association and floral-design students at Lamar High School.

Florescence is also teaming up with Houston-based fashion designers Chloe Dao, Jeri Moore and David Peck, offering exhibitors the chance to create a floral design to complement one of the designers' six couture dresses. Exhibitors will transform the art of fashion into a work of floral art, creating their own Runway Gems based on their unique interpretations of the designer pieces.

In the Botanical Arts category, exhibitors will also create tiaras, necklaces and pocket watches.
