Fitzgerald’s goes back to its roots when Shake Russell returns.
Fitzgerald, who is celebrating her 40th year in the Heights, remembers when Shake Russell would sell out each and every time he played upstairs. In the late 70’s, many of the melodies from the “Songs on the Radio” album were recorded in Houston. The hit “You’ve Got a Lover” was produced at the Rock 101 KLOL radio studios on Lovett Boulevard where the iconic Stevens and Pruett were mainstays of the Houston airwaves along with Crash in Your Dash and Locke Siebenhausen. During this time, Shake was a fixture at Fitzgerald’s as well as the other Heights and Montrose clubs.
