Film screening with live music: Girl Shy plus Two Star Symphony performance

eventdetail

Celebrate Valentine's weekend with drinks, live music and a movie at 14 Pews. Two Star Symphony and 14 Pews present a screening of the Harold Lloyd classic romantic comedy Girl Shy with an original score performed live by Two Star Symphony's eight-piece ensemble. An open bar will offer champagne and a variety of beers from Southern Star Brewing. Co, all included with the ticket price.

Girl Shy (1924) is a classic of the silent film era and one of the first romantic comedies ever made. A shy, stuttering tailor (Harold Lloyd) tries to sell his manuscript, titled The Secret Of Making Love, to incredulous publishers while romancing a socialite who is being pursued by a persistent and untrustworthy business man. The movie builds to a landmark 20-minute race involving bicycles, cars, horses, trollies and trains, and a final sequence so iconic it would be re-enacted 40 years later by a young Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate.
