The skies over west Houston will be filled with hundreds of kites, some more than 100 square feet in size, as the two-day Fest of Tails returns to the master-planned community of Cross Creek Ranch.
The festivities kick off April 12 at 11 a.m. when professional kite fliers from Kites Unlimited launch giant-sized kites in the shapes of a lobster, frog, stingray and other creatures with tails extending more than 100 feet while kids of all ages can launch free kites available at the festival (while supplies last). At 12:30 and 2 p.m., professional kite fliers will demonstrate kites controlled by multiple lines traveling up to 80 miles per hour.
The Houston Disc Dogs, featuring America's Got Talent contestant Pam Martin, will perform their high-flying Frisbee-catching, dancing and skateboard acts at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Families can bring their leashed dogs to the Furry Friends Photo Booth from 1-4 p.m. They also can be entered in the Pooch-a Palooza Talent Show and the Pawty Dress Up Parade.
On April 13, the giant kites once again will take to the skies from noon-4 p.m. The Houston Disc Dogs will perform at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. while the Furry Friends Photo Booth will be open from 1-4 p.m.
Families also can enjoy local food vendors, music and entertainment, free canine Frisbees while supplies last and discounts on various services for their dogs.
