Celebrate America’s birthday with an evening of fireworks and patriotic music. Fort Bend Symphony’s Independence Day performance, part of the official City of Stafford July 4th celebration at the Stafford Centre, precedes the fireworks show.

The performance of patriotic favorites includes John Phillip Sousa’s "Stars and Stripes Forever" and "Liberty Bell March," as well as toe-tapping polkas and marches such as "The Florentiner March" and "The Boston Pops March." Independence Day wouldn’t be complete without The National Anthem, Armed Forces Salute, and the 1812 Overture. The audience will also enjoy selections from Broadway and American film scores, including selections for orchestra from Hamilton, Wizard of Oz, Carmen, plus a salute to Cole Porter and Strike Up the Band.

Dominique Røyem, FBSO’s music director, will perform the lead role in Leroy Anderson’s The Typewriter, a novelty instrumental piece that’s been called one of “the wittiest and most clever pieces in the orchestral repertoire.”
