After filmmaker Chico Colvard accidentally shoots his little sister in the leg, a family secret comes spilling out of her lips on the hospital bed — their father had molested all three of his sisters. From then on Colvard cuts ties with his father, until he runs into him years later at a family gathering. After seeing how warmly his father is received despite his past crimes against the family, Colvard decides to get behind the camera to figure his family's relationship with the complicated affair.
Family Affair was shown at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival as one of the 16 films entered in the U.S. Documentary Competition and was also the first film at Sundance to be picked up by the Oprah Winfrey Network.
