Cigna Sunday Streets returns this fall with three brand-new locations – the Energy Corridor, Fifth Ward and Garden Oaks. Cigna Sunday Streets, a project of the Mayor’s Office of Special Events and the Health and Human Services Department, provides a family-friendly opportunity for being physically active.

For four hours one Sunday a month, selected Houston streets are closed to motorized traffic, allowing Houstonians to cycle, walk, run, dance, and socialize in the street. Stores and restaurants along the routes will also be open for business.

  • The 2016 season kicks off with its first stop outside the 610 Loop in Houston’s Energy Corridor along Eldridge Parkway from Enclave Parkway to Briar Forest Drive on October 2.  The Energy Corridor’s route includes entrances to the Terry Hershey Park Trails leading to George Bush Park.
  • The historic Fifth Ward will host the November 13 event along Lyons Avenue between the 59 Freeway Service Road and Benson Street and will include the renovated Historic DeLuxe Theatre.
