Express Theatre's Hilltop Festival for Children will feature four different plays over four days at Miller Outdoor Theatre.

  • July 18 - Freedom Train: A mother and son escape a plantation in Texas and journey to freedom along the Underground Railroad to Mexico in 1844.  Based on actual events in Texas history. Written by Celeste Bedford Walker and Tim Fried-Fiori.
  • July 19 - Sinbad the Sailor: Inspired by the classic story in Arabian Nights, an adolescent girl disguises herself as a boy to join the crew of a sailing ship.
  • July 20 - Let's Make A Play Today!: Taking suggestions from the audience, the Express Improv Players create a spontaneous children’s play with costumes, props, and spur-of-the-moment songs. The play is designed to help children directly experience the power of collaboration and creativity.
  • July 21 - The Adventures of Santa Claus - Christmas in July!: Based on the classic by L. Frank Baum about a boy named Santa who discovers his calling to bring Joy to the World. An original holiday musical written by Tim Fried-Fiori.
