Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston and the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston present "Answer Your Phone, It's Your Mother." Comedian and author Abby Sher will present an honest dialogue about the colorful, complex and sometimes claustrophobic relationship between mothers and daughters.

Sher is the author of Amen, Amen, Amen: Memoir of a Girl Who Couldn't Stop Praying? and contributor to the new book The Jewish Daughter Diaries: True Stories of Being Loved Too Much by Our Moms. Rachel Ament, writer and editor of the book, will join in by Skype. The Jewish Daughter Diaries features stories from some of the most compelling Jewish female voices today, who sound off on what it is like to be loved and adored by a modern-day Jewish mom. The Jewish Daughter Diaries is a collection of 28 essays and is a heartfelt, hilarious tribute to mom and daughterhood.

The event kicks off a month-long celebration of women. The author discussion will be followed by a dessert reception hosted by Barbara Maidenberg and daughter Hilary Kamin, Toni Miller and daughter Allison Miller Leibman, Julie Silverman and daughters Megan, Jackelyn and Lexie Silverman, and Leslie Weiner and daughter Rebecca Weiner.
