The fourth event in Q Series: LGBTQ Lives on Film will be Small Town Gay Bar. Malcolm Ingram's film portrays one aspect of rural queer life typically associated with urban areas: The gay bar. Focusing on bars in the rural Southern U.S., the film features the stories of rural LGBTQ people who stay in rural areas. In so doing, the film reproduces common ideas about the rural (conservative, homophobic and backward) and also challenges such constructions by highlighting how LGBTQ people resist, build lives and engage in their rural communities.
