Join Houston Grand Opera staff and special guests in exploring the content and context of Mieczyslaw Weinberg's 1967 opera, The Passenger, which is based on the 1959 play The Passenger from Cabin 45 written by Zofia Posmysz, an Auschwitz survivor. The discussions, which begin with historical background, the play and HGO's mission to provide relevant programs such as this one, will offer an insider's view about this work and memories of things past.
The class will be facilitated by Sandra Bernhard, director of HGOco, and Mena Mark Hanna, dramaturg at Houston Grand Opera and lecturer at the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University.
The four-part class is held on Oct.8, 15, 22 and 29.
