The Emancipation Park Conservancy will present a virtual experience in honor of the Juneteenth holiday. The theme this year is "Freedom and Justice," acknowledging the social injustice and inequality that led to a global reckoning with race and demands of better treatment of historically marginalized groups.
Celebrating 149 years, the virtual event will include DJ Chilly Bill Smith and Rob G, Vincent Powell, Nakitta Clegg-Foxx, and close with a community performance.
Additionally, EPC and Lucille’s 1913 are collaborating to feed Houstonians in need. The organizations will supply meals for 2,000 Houstonians and the event is made possible by Lucille’s 1913, H-E-B, Coca-Cola, Reliant, Council Member Carolyn Evans-Shabazz and the Houston Food Bank.
