Election Celebration at Bayou Bend

eventdetail

In early America, in the heady days of the young democracy, citizens were so excited about presidential elections that they celebrated for two or three days with parades, festivals, singing and cake. In the spirit of reviving the unbridled revelry of the democratic process, you can immerse yourself in the legacy of an American Election Day at Bayou Bend with music, food and historic re-creations, including a live 19th-century-style debate, re-enactors, a parade and a chance to practice voting using the "bean & corn" method.

Girl Scout Brownies attending the event have the opportunity to complete the requirements needed to earn their Celebrating Community badge.
