Pasolini's interpretation of the classical Greek myth tells the story of Jason and his disastrous love affair with the high priestess Medea (Maria Callas). When he turns unfaithful, she avenges herself against him by killing their children, as well as his new wife. Quiet but highly symbolic, Pasolini explores the boundaries of Medea's spiritual barbarity versus Jason’s reason driven reality.
