Día de los Muertos focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember loved ones who have passed on. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars that honor the deceased, using sugar skulls, marigolds and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed.
Guests are encouraged to bring a picture, memento or something to honor a loved one.
