The East End Foundation will spearhead an open house tour of art studios, galleries, theaters, and creative fabrication “makerspaces.”  The self-guided tour has 15 stops to indulge art and cultural aficionados giving them a direct experience with art making. The tour also showcases some of the East End’s iconic murals from nationally acclaimed artists.

The East End was Houston’s industrial complex around the turn of the 20th century and the area is now experiencing a boom in “craft industrialism.” This renaissance of art and creative fabrication is repurposing old abandoned factories into hubs for artists to collaborate in a supportive and cooperative way. The bicycling community is highly encouraged to bring their bicycles to navigate the tour and discover the miles of new bike trails in the East End.

Free maps will be available on Sunday, May 17 at East End Foundation booth on the Navigation esplanade and participating venues.
