The program, presented in partnership with the Consulate General of Italy in Houston, features dancers from Sarasota Ballet in two original works by Dominic Walsh, I Napoletani and Bello. Set to Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and popular Neopolitan music from the late 1800s, I Napoletani is a lighthearted homage to the people of of Naples.
Bello, set to five Italian arias by Handel, is a tribute to the life of Houston Ballet and Broadway dancer Mark Arvin, a friend of Walsh who passed away a month before the piece's 2005 premiere.
