Latencies, co-presented by DiverseWorks and Project Row Houses, blends conversation, a lecture and performance art language in a performance piece by artists Chelsea Knight and Autumn Knight. Latencies grew out of a residency this past fall during which Chelsea Knight and Autumn Knight met to discuss the possibility of a collaboration.The two artists are interested in how the power dynamics of gender are performed in daily life.

This new collaborative work focuses on psychoanalysis, pop culture and feminist transgression, and how these concepts may be manifested in a live artwork. Thinking about feminism and psychoanalysis in the context of performance allows Knight + Knight, as artists, to experiment with the art historical canon of textual and behavioral forms. Spread between academic and practical writings on both women and psychology, the performances also addresses auxiliary issues that arise through performativity.
