Discovery Green hosts The Legend of Big Bend. The acclaimed indie classical group Montopolis draws inspiration from West Texas tales and the breathtaking beauty of Big Bend National Park for this family-friendly concert. The multi-media performance weaves science, history, poetry and personal stories into music, which is accompanied by video footage of the vast high desert wilderness.

Led by composer Justin Sherburn, Montopolis combines country, folk and rock styles into modern classical arrangements, and is known for its multi-media events that combine live music with video and interactive storytelling. The musicians include members of the Austin Symphony, Okkervil River, The Polyphonic Spree and the Tosca String Quartet.

Blankets, lawn chairs and picnics are welcome; food, beer and wine are also available for purchase on site from the Lake House Café. No glass containers or outside alcoholic beverages are allowed.
