Dimmitt Contemporary Art presents "Naked Skies," a solo exhibition of paintings by artist Robert Roth. Following Roth’s 2018 exhibition “Recent Landscapes,” the painter returns to present some of his newest works with extraordinary focus on skies.
In Roth’s estimation, skies are a forceful element in nature, which allow him great compositional variety in handling form and color. He has spoken of their sense of vastness, and his fascination with this infinite quality is evident in horizon lines placed low his compositions which are dominated by images of clouds and hazy atmosphere. Throughout the canvases, the viewer sees Roth’s adeptness at suggesting light, both atmospheric light in the top registers, and reflected light at and below the horizon lines. The blending and layering of lighter toned pigments helps to create this effect, as well as to evoke mood, with visual harmony as a primary feature.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until July 25.
