The Juilliard Quartet (Areta Zhulla, violin; Ronald Copes, violin; Molly Carr, viola; Astrid Schween, cello) will perform romantic works by and Dvořák and Mendelssohn - whose last quartet is a moving tribute to his sister, Fanny - and a new quartet co-commissioned by DACAMERA.
An immensely-gifted prodigy, composer Tyson Davis has been making waves in the music world while still a student at Juilliard, winning the BMI Student Composer Award as well as the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award.
DACAMERA presents Parker Quartet, featuring Daniel Chong, violin; Ken Hamao, violin; Jessica Bodner, viola; and Kee-Hyun Kim, cello.
Inspiring performances, luminous sound, and exceptional musicianship are the hallmarks of the Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet. Renowned for its dynamic interpretations and polished, expansive colors, the group has rapidly distinguished itself as one of the preeminent ensembles of its generation, dedicated purely to the sound and depth of their music.
The concert will include Dvořák's Selections from “Cypresses,” Bartók's Quartet No. 5, Sz. 102, Mozart's Quartet in E minor, K. 417d [fragment], Vijay Iyer's Mozart Effects (DACAMERA co-commission), and Dvořák's Quartet in F Major, Op. 96, “American.”
