A top-notch ensemble of Houston-based performers and guest artists kicks off Da Camera of Houston's 2013-2014 season with "Twenty-Something: Mozart and Schubert." Young trailblazers Mozart and Schubert produced remarkable compositions throughout their short lives, works of extraordinary maturity, humanity and depth of feeling. Mozart's dramatic Quartet for Piano and Strings in G Minor, K. 478 and Schubert's serenely lyrical Octet in F Major, D. 803, composed by a 29-year-old Mozart and a 27-year-old Schubert respectively, are among of the greatest masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire.

Cellist Darrett Adkins, who earned a masters degree at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, makes his Da Camera debut. Performers include Richie Hawley, clarinet; Benjamin Kamins, bassoon; David Jolley, horn; Laurie Smukler, violin; Maureen Nelson, violin; James Dunham, viola; Timothy Pitts, double bass; and artistic director Sarah Rothenberg on piano.
