American pianist Simone Dinnerstein is a searching and inventive artist who is motivated by a desire to find the musical core of every work she approaches. Dinnerstein's Houston debut recital culminates with Beethoven's last sonata, Sonata No. 32 in C minor, Op. 111, building to it in a fascinating program including Bach's 15 Two-Part Inventions, George Crumb's Eine Kleine Mitternacht Musik (Ruminations on Round Midnight by Thelonius Monk for amplified piano) and young trailblazer Nico Muhly's You Can't Get There From Here.
Muhly, the American composer whose Two Boys recently had its premiere at the Metropolitan Opera, wrote the piece for Dinnerstein. Dinnerstein is known for her acclaimed, best-selling recordings of Bach including her recording of the Goldberg Variations and Bach: A Strange Beauty.
